How to Disable Windows 11 Tips and Suggestions Notifications
You can turn off unneeded and distracting notifications on your PC. Here’s how to disable Windows 11 Tips and Suggestions notifications
Microsoft adds new features with every Windows update, and one offers suggestions to improve your experience. But you may want to disable Windows 11 Tips and Suggestions notifications.
The feature is meant to improve your Windows 11 experience, but you may find the notifications distracting. Luckily, you can disable the notifications and focus on getting things done.
You can disable the notifications using the Settings app, Group Policy, or tweaking the Registry. We’ll show you the options you have in this guide.
Disable Tips and Suggestions Notifications via Settings
The following steps are the most straightforward way to disable the notifications via Settings.
- Press the Windows key to open the Start menu and select Settings.
Note: Alternatively, you can use Windows key + I to open Settings directly. - Select System in the left column.
- Scroll down and select the Notifications option from the right column.
- Continue to scroll down the Notifications section and click the Additional settings option.
- Uncheck the Get tips and suggestions when using Windows box to disable the notifications.
That’s it! Once you complete the steps, the Tips and Suggestions notifications will be disabled on your Windows 11 PC.
If you want to reenable them later, go back into Settings and recheck the Get tips and suggestions when using Windows option.
Disable Tips and Suggestions Notifications via Group Policy
If you are on Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, or Education editions, you can disable the notifications via Group Policy Editor.
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type gpedit.msc and click OK or press Enter.
- When Local Group Policy Editor opens, navigate to the following path:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Cloud Content - Double-click the Do not show Windows tips policy in the right pane.
- When the policy window appears, select Enabled and click Apply and OK to save the change.
- Restart Windows 11, and the Tips and Suggestions notifications will no longer appear while using your PC.
Disable Tips and Suggestions via the Windows Registry
If you aren’t running Windows Pro or higher, no worries. You can do the same thing by making edits in the Windows Registry. It’s recommended only to use this option if you cannot disable Tips and Suggestions from Settings.
Note: Making the wrong changes in the Registry can make your system unstable or unbootable. So, before you proceed, back up the Registry and create a system backup to recover your system if something goes wrong.
To Disable Tips and Suggestions via the Registry
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type regedit and click OK or press Enter.
- When the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CloudContent - If the CloudContent key isn’t present, you can create it by right-clicking the Windows folder and selecting New > Key, and naming it CloudContent.
- Choose the CloudContent folder, right-click an empty area in the right panel, and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
- Name the DWORD as DisableSoftLanding and hit Enter.
- Double-click on DisableSoftLanding and give it a value of 1, and click OK.
- Once you complete the steps, close out of Registry Editor and restart your PC. Once you sign back in, Tips and Suggestions notifications will no longer appear. To reenable them, you can return to the Registry and set the DisableSoftLanding value data to 0.
Managing Windows 11 Notifications
If you find the Windows 11 Tips and Suggestions notifications distracting, you can disable them using the steps above.
