If you tapped the X icon in the top right corner of the screen asking you to subscribe, it allows you to use the app without subscribing.

Article states that Polycam is free, but when I attempted to open the app, I had to create an account, and then I was greeted with a screen message which (paraphrased) obligated me to being automatically charged the subscription fee after a 7-day free trial.
I could not use the free trial without agreeing to pay after seven days.
