How to Recover Deleted Photos and Videos on iPhone and iPad

Apple added the ability to restore deleted photos and videos back with iOS 8. This quick tip explains how it works and how you can recover yours.

Apple introduced a new feature to iPhone and iPad has several versions ago — back with iOS 8. It allows you to recover deleted photos and videos that you might have accidentally deleted. It’s an easy process, and it can be done directly from the Photos app. It is near the top of my list of favorite features for iPhone and iPad. So if you have pictures and/or videos you need to get back, here’s a look at how to do it.

Recover Deleted Photos on iPhone or iPad

To undelete your files, simply open your Photos app and tap Albums at the bottom of the screen. Next, scroll down and tap the album called Recently Deleted. It will have all photos and/or videos that you have deleted in the last 30 days.

Then you can tap the Select button at the upper-right corner of the app. Then scroll through and tap on the photos you want to restore or recover that you deleted. Then tap the Recover button. For example, here I am getting three photos back.

Next, tap the “Recover xx Photos” button.

You can restore all files at once by simply tapping Recover All and then verify your selection.

Unlike most options on iOS, Apple kept things simple, so there are no recovery options or settings. That said, I like simple. And this process is exactly that.

This feature is SUPER helpful. Time and time again I accidentally click on a photo I want to keep when deleting in bulk and this saves me from pulling out my hair and sobbing quietly while curled up in a ball. Great tips mate!

Such way to recover photos on iOS 8 is easy. But it only works within 30 days after deletion. For those photos deleted over 30 days, how to deleted photos from iPhone? We can surely get back them from iTunes or iCloud backup. Also retrieve them from iOS devices directly with “FoneLab for iOS”.

    Thanks, great article.
However, you can only use this function in iOS 8 and also the photos you deleted less than 30 days ago. If you are using iOS 7 or you have deleted the photos you would like to recover more than 30 days, you need to restore your iPhone with iTunes or iCloud backup files to get back the photos or you need use a program to recover deleted photos from iPhone for you.

I love this feature and it’s a convenient to restore wrongly deleted photos. However, even it being deleted 30 days before, you can use itunes or icloud to get them back.

It’s really a nice feature when the iOS 8 published. Nearly almost users love this function. But now, many users begin to use some 3rd party recovery like Wondershare or FonePaw iPhone Data Recovery which can not only recover deleted files from iPhone or iPad, but also recover files from iCloud and iTunes. They can recover photos, videos, contacts, messages, memos and so on.
